Lemont, IL -
Tiger Woods fired a flawless, eight-under 63 on Sunday to win the BMW Championship at Cog Hill. He finished at 22-under 262 to win by two over Aaron Baddeley.
"Starting out the day, I thought 20 (under par) was probably going to be the number," said Woods, whose 262 total obliterated the old tournament record by five. "Then after the front nine, that was out the door. We adjusted the number."
With the victory, Woods moved into first in the FedEx Cup Playoff Points race with just next week's Tour Championship left on the schedule. Woods can only be caught by five people (Steve Stricker, Phil Mickelson, Rory Sabbatini, K.J. Choi and Baddeley) en route to the first-ever FedEx Cup title.
"It's going to be a very interesting week all around next week," said Woods, who pocketed $1,260,000 for the win. "I think all of us are looking forward to seeing how the week pans out."
Baddeley, an overnight co-leader with Stricker, shot a respectable, five-under 66 on Sunday. He took second alone at minus-20, two shots better than Stricker, who bogeyed the last for a three-under 68.
