Sheffield, England -
Ricky Hatton knocked out Colombian Carlos Maussa in the ninth round to unify the light welterweight title on Saturday.
Hatton, who moved his record to 40-0 with 30 knockouts, already held the IBF belt and took the WBA crown from Maussa in the fight at Hallam FM Arena. Hatton was declared the winner at the 1:10 mark of the ninth round after he used a hook to send Maussa to the canvas.
The 27-year-old Hatton, who resides in Manchester, England, had scored an 11th-round TKO of Kostya Tszyu in June to claim the IBF belt.
Maussa, who fell to 20-3, won the WBA belt with a seventh-round KO of Vivian Harris in June.
